Hi, I'm ouzo.
I'm a CS student who's really into learning new things. I previously worked in a different industry, but I've always had a big interest in computers.
Think of me like a 'car guy' versus a mechanical engineer who designs and builds cars, when it comes to CS. The 'car guy' knows what a turbo looks like and how to use one, but has no idea how it's built or installed. At this point in my degree I'm probably equivalent to the mechanic.
I've spent most my time working with Python, SQL and LaTeX. If I can help it, I'll never touch a .docx or .pptx again. I'm trying to find the time to learn some Rust on my own, and I'll be doing C next semester.
I also really enjoy video games (I like a bit of everything, but FPS are my bread and butter), geopolitics / modern history and falling into wiki holes.
why 'ouzo'?
I like liquorice.
why a blog?
To learn some HTML and CSS. What better way than getting your hands dirty?
I was also inspired by this post on HN and this website after getting annoyed with how bloated the average webpage is.
why monospaced fonts?
I will die on the hill that monospaced fonts are the most aesthetically appealing to read. My favourite at the moment is Google Sans Code.
